In The Shadow of Majestic Mount Rainier
Mini Appy Acres is located in Graham, WA, with a spectacular view of snowcapped Mt. Rainier and the Cascade Mountains. We raise and show AMHR Miniature Appaloosa horses as well as Foundation Classic Shetlands. Several miniature horses and Shetlands are multiple Champions. Three of my miniature horses have achieved their Hall of Fame - one in Halter, one in Liberty, and one in Obstacle.
Starting out, I had one Miniature horse - a very nice AMHR blue roan stallion who’s registered name was "Blue Apollo", aka "Clyde" by his friends. Well, you know you cannot have just one so the search began for a Miniature Appaloosa mare. I found a sorrel snowflake mare, "DRB’s Little Pixie". The results of that mating was a gorgeous little red roan filly with a blanket who was named "Little Katrina". Of course, we had to keep her as she was our first filly. Their next foal was a blue roan filly with a blanket, "Pixie’s Blue Lace", who we also had to keep.
First, I started showing Clyde in halter, then in obstacle in hand, and after training him to drive, we went on to Obstacle driving. After we had all of these areas down, I started him in jumping as well as Liberty. He was my all around horse. He did very well in Halter with many Championships as well as Grand Champions.
Later, I started showing Little Katrina in Halter and Liberty. She received many Grand Champions in Halter and many wins in Liberty for her awesome performance. She went on to achieved her Hall of Fame in Halter. She has now been retired from the show arena to become one of my broodmares. She has since produced some very nice foals.
We also occasionally raise some unregistered miniature dappled Dachshunds as well as once in awhile have Shih Tzu/ Pomeranian puppies.
